Dean brings over 22 years of experience in education, leadership and management to Hulme Hall, including ten years at Senior Leadership level. He began his career as a Teacher of Economics and Business Studies in 1996 and has since embraced the Pastoral side of teaching, serving as Head of Year in both KS4 and KS5 at his previous school, before becoming Deputy Headmaster.
His expectations are clear – his pupils must do their best at all times, be honest and respectful to each other and aim high in all their endeavours.
When he isn’t working, Dean enjoys watching most sports and in particular his beloved football team – Manchester City. He likes to unwind by taking his two dogs for a walk with his wife, Sarah.
Jackie began her teaching career at a large Catholic comprehensive school in Merseyside and joined Hulme Hall Grammar School in 2003. She has since taken on many leadership roles within the school and is currently the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the Senior School.
Jackie is Assistant Headteacher (Pupil Progress) as well as being responsible for C.E.I.A.G. (Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance), Rewards and Sanctions, Attendance and Line Manager of the Pastoral Team.
Jackie’s teaching philosophy is simple: show respect to gain respect; make a difference; strive to be the best you can be; start each day anew.
In addition to a love of teaching, Jackie also values her home life with her husband and two daughters. They like to escape to the family home in Donegal, Ireland – to peaceful sea views, fresh air and no school bells!
As part of the Leadership Team at Hulme Hall Grammar, Philip holds a number of roles within the school. These include Initial Teacher Training Professional Mentor, Whole School Curriculum Management and Timetabling, Data, Reporting and Tracking, Line Manager to Department Heads, and Head of Physical Education.
Philip leads a hard-working staff team and bases his success on good communication, organisation, leadership and a shared goal to improve the teaching and learning of all the pupils who pass through our care.
Father of two and teaching since 2001, Philip has experienced a number of very different schools, helping to shape his career and giving him the valuable skills for his current position at Hulme Hall Grammar School.
Harjinder joined Hulme Hall Grammar School in September 2005 and brought 10 years of experience to the role. Her first experience of independent education was when she lived in Madrid and taught at Numont School. She has previously taught in the maintained sector and held various senior posts of responsibility.
Harjinder has led the Pre-school through two outstanding inspections and believes that this is due to her high expectations not only of the children and staff, but also of parents, who play a valuable role in the school’s success.
Harjinder enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Ranbir and has two young daughters, Ria and Elia.
Simon joined Hulme Hall Grammar School in July 2024, having spent 31 years involved in the management and leadership of a range of educational establishments.
Simon was born and educated in Stockport prior to completing a Biochemistry degree at Southampton University. Simon is a qualified accountant and company secretary and also has experience of inspecting other Independent Schools.
Outside of work Simon is a lifelong Manchester City supporter and a keen motorsport fan. He is married with two children.
Richard graduated from the University of Birmingham before completing a PGCE at the University of Manchester. He has over 15 years’ experience in education and is currently an Associate Assistant Headteacher at Hulme Hall Grammar School.
His responsibilities include Head of Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11), Head of the Humanities and MFL Faculty, and is also our Examinations Officer.
In his view, fulfilling your potential is a result of preparation, working harder and smarter, and having a positive growth mindset. He aims to ensure every pupil will leave Hulme Hall having had a positive and successful experience.
